• NOSE
We can't get over how powerful and complex the nose was. It was a mix of dark fruits, cream like a custard or cream brulee with hints of a toasted oak. We were also getting a tweak of IBC Vanilla Cream.
This is hand's down; one of the best 'smelling' bourbons we've had the honor of sniffing!! And the score reflects that.

• PALATE
Now, here is where it takes a left turn for us. After that nose; we were hoping for another WOW!! moment. So let's just dive in...
First and foremost; we like a little heat...but this definitely drinks hotter than that stated 108. We had to look at the bottle again...yep, 108. But the funniest thing; it didn't burn until it hit the back of your throat. And then that KY. Hug hit ya all the way down!! Whoa!!
Now the 2nd conundrum; where was the flavors that we were nosing? The palate was no where near as complex as the nose.
We were deciphering through and the biggest notes we were picking out was a 'Bitter' Orange Zest and a mid-palate oakiness that wasn't too prominent, but lingered.
And one last thing we noticed was a viscous mouth-coating.

• FINISH
The finish was a long, somewhat dry (even w/that viscous mouth-coat) and pretty spicy. It almost reminds us of a baker's chocolate with that hint of maltiness.

As a value for the pricing vs. what we took away from this experience; we weren't too keen.

• FINAL NOTES
Would we suggest this to another or hand this out as a gift...probably not. We are anxious to let it air a little and possibly revisit it, but as of right now; this isn't Bar Staple Status for us.
